Antique Lobi Daybed
Handmade in Burkina Faso in the early 20th Century
These rare and breathtaking relics were hand-carved from a single piece of wood in the early 20th century by the Lobi tribe of Burkina Faso. Originally created to be used as elongated seating, they are now used as striking, sculptural daybeds in homes, preserved as historical artifacts in galleries and exhibitions, or elegantly displayed as a timeless work of art that boldly stands alone.
Much like our other Hero Piece, The Spiral Table, the Lobi Daybed evokes a new emotion with each glance, it lends a new story and form with the shift of an angle, and, much like the natural world from which it came, it is both grounding and expansive in its totality. It is art.
