Ameesh Maru is half of Sojourn Vintage and was a ceramicist long before Sojourn began, working from a studio in Los Angeles where the Earth Stone series was made in 2020. The vessels draw their method from techniques that predate the wheel and give it a form that could only have been arrived at now.

Each was wheel-thrown, which means no two in the series carry the same profile and none of them is quite symmetrical as you turn it. That is the argument for building this way: the hand stays visible in the wall, and the finished piece holds a record of how it came to exist.

Vessel 02 is the taller of the two at ten and a quarter inches, drawn up through the body before it opens at the lip. At that height it carries a branch properly and reads as sculpture standing empty. Vessel 01, lower and broader, is available separately.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.

Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.

Furniture: Delivery is arranged and paid for by the customer. You choose, book and pay the mover or carrier directly. We can send names of companies other customers have used, provide any specs you need, and coordinate the handoff. Many customers shipping outside Southern California use U-Ship. Movers and carriers are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage — quotes, scheduling, liability and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.

Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
