Condition: Excellent condition for its age. Structurally sound throughout, both drawers running true on their runners, and the timber carrying the deepened colour mahogany reaches after a century and a half.
Mirror plate: Original and never resilvered, holding the speckled silvering and soft edge clouding that only decades produce.
A dressing mirror stood on the chest in the corner of a bedroom and did the work an entire vanity does now, tilting on its knobs to catch whatever light the window gave. Cabinetmakers across Europe built them in mahogany through the middle decades of the nineteenth century, choosing and cutting the timber so the flame figure ran unbroken across the front of the base.
The plate is original to the piece and has never been touched. Decades of air behind the glass have drawn the silvering back into a soft constellation, gathered at the edges and scattered toward the centre, so a reflection settles into the surface instead of sitting on top of it. That effect is imitated at real expense now, sprayed and stippled onto new glass to approximate what this one arrived at on its own.
Two drawers run below on a plinth of heavy roll moulding, lined in quilted cream fabric and shallow in the way they were built to be. On a dresser, a hall table, or a bathroom counter it does exactly what it was made for, and the frame carries enough weight to hold a corner as furniture in its own right.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.
Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.
Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.
Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
