Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Structurally sound throughout, with no breaks or repairs to the frame. The original black leather is fully intact and remains supple, carrying an even patina and light wear consistent with sixty years of use.

Elsa and Nordal Solheim designed the Kengu for RYBO Rykken & Co. in Norway around 1960, at the height of a Scandinavian design culture built on bent wood and restraint. The frame is rosewood, steam-bent into a continuous line that carries the sitter's weight without visible structure, so the engineering disappears into the silhouette.

The leather is original and has done what good hide does over six decades: softened, deepened in color, taken the shape of use. It holds a corner the way a piece of sculpture does, and it is still a chair you sit in.

Availability: This piece is with our upholsterer for finishing work and will be ready for pickup or delivery on or after August 10.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.

Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.

Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.

Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
