Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Structurally sound throughout, with the original gilt finish carrying the natural variation of age.

Postwar workshops across Italy and Spain kept a tradition of decorative ironwork alive well into the machine age: iron heated, hammered, and coiled by hand, then gilded so the metal read as ornament rather than as structure. The furniture that came out of those workshops in the fifties and sixties was built for rooms that wanted weightless decoration.

This Italian base was forged that way. Ribbons of iron curl at every junction where the stretcher meets the uprights, and the gilding has softened unevenly over six decades, so the surface catches light differently depending on where you stand. The oval glass is original, and considerably thicker than what gets cut for furniture today.

Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.

Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.

Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
