Condition: Excellent condition throughout. The forge work is crisp across every joint, and the surface carries the hammer marks, scale, and depth that hand-worked iron takes on across decades.
The great cathedrals of Spain were furnished in iron long before they were furnished in anything else, their screens and grilles and altar stands worked at the forge by smiths whose names went into the guild rolls and nowhere afterward. That vocabulary of twisted bar and scrolled foot carried out of the churches and into Spanish and Colonial houses, and it has held its place there ever since.
This piece is built entirely in that language. Four rods are splayed and twisted into an open basket beneath each candle cup, a form the smith works hot and by eye, and the cross-member is upset into collars at every junction where the arms meet it. The two arms rise together under the centre light in a pointed arch taken straight from a cathedral window.
The whole of it stands on three scrolled feet hammered out of flat bar, and at twenty inches across it holds the length of a dining table on its own. Lit, the basket twists throw their shadow up the wall behind, which is the reason a smith cuts them open in the first place.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.
Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.
Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.
Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
