Condition: Excellent condition throughout. Drawn from noticeably heavier stock than most work in this idiom, and left raw at the forge, so the iron has taken its own warm oxidised brown across every surface and holds it deepest in the hollows of the twists.
A smith working iron by hand chooses the stock before anything else, and most of what the finished piece can carry is decided in that first choice. This one was drawn from heavier bar than the idiom usually calls for, and the weight is the first thing the hand registers when it lifts.
Each candle cup rises out of a basket of four rods twisted open at the forge, and the arms meet beneath the centre light in the pointed arch that runs through Spanish and Gothic ironwork alike. The three feet finish in a cloven split, hammered apart at the tip and curled back on themselves, which is the kind of flourish a smith adds because the skill is there rather than because the piece asks for it.
Nothing was ever laid over the metal. Where a smith would usually burn oil or wax into the surface to seal it black, this one was left bare, and decades of air have brought the whole frame to a soft brown that sits in the grain of the forging rather than on top of it. A companion piece in the same idiom, taller and finished black at the forge, is available separately, and the two set down the length of a table read as a single arrangement.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.
Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.
Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.
Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
