Condition: Wonderful vintage condition. Light surface scratches across the well, consistent with age and use, and visible in the detail photographs.
Sweden spent the middle of the last century making glass better than almost anyone, and the best of it never needed to announce itself. This piece carries no mark on the base, which is how most Swedish glass of the period left the workshop — the object was the signature. What you can read instead is the making: the weight, the way the walls thicken and thin, the small variations no mould repeats.
The colour runs deep brown at the rim and opens to a clear gold through the well, and it moves as the light does. The lustre sits on the surface rather than in the glass itself, so the highlights travel across it as you turn it in the hand.
Most of these have long stopped being ashtrays. It takes keys inside a front door, rings beside a sink, or sits on a stack of books doing nothing at all but catching the afternoon.

You will choose how you would like to receive your piece at checkout. After every purchase we will email you within two business days to begin coordinating. Timelines for pickup, delivery, and shipping vary by piece and by destination, and we will confirm those with you directly.
Pickup: Available by appointment in Mount Washington, Los Angeles 90065. After your order is placed, we will email the exact address and coordinate a time.
Furniture: Arrange your own mover, or we will send recommendations for trusted third-party delivery companies serving Los Angeles. For destinations outside Southern California, many of our customers have used U-Ship. Delivery companies are third-party and independent of Sojourn Vintage. Quotes, scheduling, liability, and payment are handled directly with them. Delivery costs are not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total.
Smalls and decor: We coordinate packing and shipping. We will contact you with the final cost, which is paid before your piece ships and is not included in your Sojourn Vintage order total. Local customers can choose pickup for smalls and decor.
